The Direct Marketing Association is much more "with it" today and has regained its former position as a leading trade association, which is a very good thing, indeed!Ernie Schellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09138728684214385010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21561642.post-54791723152817394562010-12-18T15:58:31.865-05:002010-12-18T15:58:31.865-05:00YOU MUST READ THIS -

Fair enforcement would be impossible ... and it would be enforced selectively to punish some company who the FCC didn't like or one who was particularly abusive.

Further, as you observe, DNT is simply not practical. There will always be a way around it. The technologists will always be ahead of the regulators.

The regulators simply aren't smart enough or fast enough.

The marketplace is a better policing force than the FCC or any other governmental agency.David P Himeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362353234349984085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21561642.post-11531063190059345512010-12-16T09:36:37.588-05:002010-12-16T09:36:37.588-05:00Recognizing the growing call for privacy, Cambridg...Recognizing the growing call for privacy, Cambridge, MA-based online privacy company Abine today launched DeleteMe, a "delete button for the Internet." Within 2 hours I had an email from Amazon offering me a cookbook...... not the one I had looked at..... surprise!

And this is not an isolated incident; I can dredge up several other similar examples over the past several months. If I were not so curious about this I could be feeling slightly paranoid by now......!

BTW: Amy Africa is one of my favorites, and I have learned great bucketfuls from her via our twitter association.

@CASUDICASUDIhttp://www.esse-group.com/LTCB/noreply@blogger.com
